GDPR Chaos Kicks In
Today you probably woke up to hundreds of emails asking if you’re still wanting to hear from certain brands (or, in plain English, be pestered with marketing emails). The new GDPR law came into effect today, sparking last-minute panic from many companies as they desperately tried to claw their way back into your inbox.
We’ll level with you, it’s not the easiest thing to get your head around and we’re very glad it’s finally come into effect.
In the Umpf office it’s been a source of much amusement (and frustration) – here are some of our favourite GDPR-based comments:

Facebook Founder Faces Questions
This week, Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg met with the European parliament to answer questions over data sharing, political advertising and data abuse, in the wake of the Cambridge Analytica data scandal.
However, the 90-minute session ended up raising more questions than answering them, as The Guardian reported that Zuckerberg spent 30 minutes responding to 60 minutes’ worth of MEPs’ questions.
This understandably led to several complaints, with many raising concerns that the Facebook founder had been allowed to evade certain questions and give vague answers.
Today's session in the EP was a missed opportunity. An hour of questions, followed by a lengthy statement from Zuckerberg, with all difficult questions dodged. The format, which was agreed by Facebook, led to no real scrutiny. It is time that he appeared in front of @CommonsCMS

Take a Twitter Trip Down Memory Lane
Have you ever wondered what Twitter looked like 10 years ago?…Me either.
But for the procrastinators/nosey parkers out there, you can now take a look at your timeline as it would’ve been back in 2008.
Interestingly, the ‘retweet’ button hadn’t been created yet, and it makes for a very bland looking Twitter feed. Check it out:

Instagram’s New ‘Mute’ Button
This week, Instagram announced it would be allowing users to ‘mute’ people and stop them from appearing in your feed, without the person in question knowing.
The update is due to roll out in the coming weeks and is a decent new addition, but what we’re all really waiting for is a chronological timeline. Ready when you are, Instagram…
It's 2018, and Instagram is still playing games with the timeline algorithm smh. pic.twitter.com/D2pK9KQ2NI
