Clarks Village
World’s Biggest Santa Skate
- PR
Campaign snapshot
At Umpf, we don’t do things by halves. That’s why when we were tasked with supporting the return of Clarks Village’s Festive Ice Rink, we turned a launch into the world’s biggest Santa Ice Skate. Celebrating the start of Christmas, we asked guests to dress up as Santa and aimed to set the record for the most amount of Santas skating on ice.
How we did it
Armed with our PR knowhow, a sack full of Santa suits, a trusty tally counter and a sleigh-load of festive spirit, we transformed the opening of the ice rink into a night to remember.
Guests were given free tickets to the launch event, with extra families treated to a surprise skate on the night. Our DJ set a party atmosphere, and guests were greeted by the big man himself – with the event going down an absolute storm.
The supportive PR campaign saw us engage with print, online and broadcast media, coordinating live TV interviews, capturing stand-out photography, and of course donning a Santa suit and pair of skates for that crucial record-breaking moment.
The results
The event saw 155 Santas take to the ice, alongside three appearances on ITV West Country and two features on BBC Radio Somerset. We achieved a whopping 56 pieces of coverage including The Times, Daily Star and BBC Online, with a total reach of 112m…and one world record too!
