How PR can support your restaurant brand
At Umpf we’re skilled at keeping restaurants top-of-mind for consumers so that they’re in the public’s dining out consideration. We use a range of tactics, underpinned by an always-on press office.
We might be supporting with a new restaurant opening or upsize, it might be a new menu launch or a seasonal dish. There might be a new chef to profile or a milestone reached.
From press releases to press trips, launches to lunches, features to food reviews, we cover all aspects, including celebrity endorsements and VIP visits.
Whether it’s getting your restaurant on a key ‘what’s on’ list, showcasing senior management in a trade title, raising your profile regionally in the media, securing influencer content, landing a top tier restaurant critic review or generally raising your brand’s profile, we have both the skills and a decade-plus of experience.
Our Studio team can support with design, branding and marketing collateral and we can produce stunning food photography and video content.

UK PR launch for Captain D’s
In October 2025, as part of a global expansion, the Umpf team helped launch American seafood restaurant brand, Captain D’s, in the UK. Headquartered in Nashville, the brand has 530 restaurants in 23 US states.
Our first outreach, to publicise the date the first restaurant would open, appeared in key national media such as The Sun, Time Out and Food Bible, regional titles like Kent Online and KentLive, through to top tier trade titles such as The Caterer, Propel and Franchising.com.

British Street Food Festival, Portsmouth
Since 2021 we have supported the team at the British Street Food Awards with their Southern Heats in Portsmouth. The annual event celebrates the South’s best street food vendors, with guests voting for a winner to advance to the European Street Food Awards grand finale.
Our work has included press releases, handling media outreach, hosting local foodie influencers and coordinating Instagram takeovers to generate media and social buzz to drive footfall. For the latest campaign, in May 2025, we secured 25 pieces of coverage from PR alone, with a combined reach of over 8 million.

The Savvy Baker
In October 2025 we launched the latest café for independent brownie brand and bakery, The Savvy Baker. Featuring a dedicated matcha bar serving the brand’s best-selling drink, as well as an on-site bakery, the announcement of the new café was designed to generate excitement ahead of the opening.
Our targeted PR strategy delivered outstanding results, achieving blanket regional media coverage, with 38 articles – including a front-page feature in the Yorkshire Evening Post – reaching more than 8 million people.

Trinity Kitchen
Since 2017 Umpf has been the PR agency for Trinity Kitchen in Leeds. The popular dining destination, which mashes permanent restaurants with a new rotation of global street food vans and pop-up vendors every eight weeks, is located in the heart of the city centre.
We manage ongoing PR which includes everything from a bi-monthly press and influencer supper club, tasting events, press trips, chef profiling, as well as developing PR campaigns such as ‘Trinity Kitchen Sessions’ which we launched in August 2025 featuring live music from buskers and artists such ADMT.

Crafthouse
For three years Umpf managed the PR for D&D’s flagship fine dining restaurant, Crafthouse. The remit also included Angelica, D&D’s rooftop brasserie restaurant and cocktail bar. We managed all aspects of PR as well as influencer engagement.

Issho
Umpf managed the launch for Victoria Gate’s contemporary rooftop Japanese restaurant and bar, Issho. Alongside the glamorous opening party, we looked after ongoing PR, media visits, influencer activity and restaurant reviews – Issho was awarded a Michelin Plate within six months of opening.
