Umpf PR Diary – May / June 2021

  • PR

Another busy few months at Umpf HQ! We’ve got some more new recruits to welcome, some more awards to celebrate, and we’ve been getting down to some seriously fun business too. Read on…

Some more new faces

Back in our previous diary, we mentioned some lovely new recruits to the team – we’re excited to introduce even more in this edition! We’ve welcomed Abbie Hawran as our new Junior Account Executive, and Katie Barrow as Senior Account Executive, both based in Leeds. It’s going to be one heck of a welcome lunch when we all get together…

(Some more) award wins

You might be sick of us banging on about our award wins… but we’ve gone and bagged a few more. Our Bielsa stunt for Trinity Leeds has picked up a CIPR Excellence Award for Best Use of Media Relations, as well as two PR Moment Awards for Stunt of the Year and Low Budget Campaign of the Year. Lovely stuff.

Be Your Beautiful

We’ve been supporting Landsec shopping centres nationwide on their Be Your Beautiful campaign, a weekend celebrating every individual’s form of beautiful. The events involve beauty and wellbeing retailers as well as on-site experiences – including a giant digital scratch card machine dishing out 100s of prizes – and exclusive content from stars of RuPaul’s Drag Race UK. The touring Be Your Beautiful event wraps up at White Rose in Leeds later this month – keep your eyes peeled for some fun stunts to coincide!

Well, it nearly came home…

If beauty treats aren’t your bag, maybe this will be – we’ve also been busy celebrating the Euros at Landsec centres across the country. From renaming streets at St David’s and Westgate Oxford to family selfie spots at White Rose, at least we had some fun before the final.

#Speakupfortravel

For client The Travel Network Group, the UK’s largest membership consortium for independent travel businesses, we supported the company’s participation in the Travel Industry Day of Action – a day of lobbying organised by the Save Future Travel coalition. The Day of Action aimed to put pressure on the Government to provide sector-specific support to the travel industry and call for a clear roadmap to international travel. We developed and issued a statement from The Travel Network Group ahead of the event and pitched interviews with CEO, Gary Lewis to broadcast media. Comment and interviews were secured with The Independent, The Telegraph, BBC News Online, LBC, MSN, Sky News, GB News, Daily Express, Travel Weekly, TTG, Times Radio, TalkRadio and the conversation continued into the following week.

The Bright Lights

With the help from RuPaul’s Drag Race UK Queens Tayce and Lawrence Chaney, we launched Landsec’s #BeYourBeautiful campaign across all centres with one sole purpose – to unite in pride and stand against discrimination in the LGTBQIA+ community.

The message was spread loud and clear. From taking over several Landsec shopping centre social channels and sites, to featuring on Europe’s biggest advertising display, Piccadilly Lights, the campaign solidified Landsec’s stance on championing inclusivity and diversity.
