And just like that, 2024 is upon us and the team wasted no time in picking up the pace throughout January.
Read what we’ve been up to below…

Turkey-ing Around

As a little throwback to December, our studio team enjoyed creating an interactive social filter to support Landsec’s Fabulous Gifts Every Time advert campaign, which featured a gaggle of turkeys revelling in fabulous gifts. Designed with a mix of 2D and 3D elements within the Meta Spark Studio, the filter lets you turkey-fy yourself.

The filter was created to engage with and entertain social audiences across the different shopping centre’s Facebook and Instagram channels in the lead up to Christmas, whilst subtly raised awareness of their overall Christmas campaign.
The cherry on top: when users opened their mouths, the filter treated them to the quintessential turkey ‘gobble’ sound effect!

Water Filtration At The Forefront

It’s been a great coverage month for water filtration client Strix, with pieces secured for its filter jugs, kettles, and breakfast appliances across Love It!, Good Housekeeping, House Beautiful, and The Telegraph – a two-for-one piece with brands Aqua Optima and LAICA both listed.

With no recent product launches, the coverage is the result of a hard-working, always-on press office. Lovely stuff!

More BBC Coverage for White Rose Accessibility Facilities

Following the roll-out of its stoma-friendly facilities last year, January saw White Rose Shopping Centre install new sanitary facilities in its men’s toilets, as part of Prostate Cancer UK’s ‘Boys Need Bins’ campaign.

The centre team was alerted to the campaign by regular visitor Susan Childs, whose family has sadly been impacted by prostate cancer, and promptly sprung into action. Prostate Cancer UK’s research has found that 95% of men living with incontinence feel anxiety around lack of sanitary bins in men’s toilets, leading to many of them reducing the time they spend out of the house.

As Centre Director Steven Foster says, a day out shopping should be an enjoyable affair, and the figures show that barriers such as a lack of facilities can hugely impact someone’s experience.

We arranged for Steven Foster and Susan Childs to speak to Rima Ahmed at BBC Radio Leeds about the campaign, with listeners commenting on how groundbreaking the facilities are. Among other great regional coverage, the story was the top read on the BBC Yorkshire website pages.

New Additions

January marked the arrival of not just one, but two incredible new additions to our Umpf family!
Join us in extending a warm welcome to our new Junior Account Executive, Bimini Love, who brings a burst of fresh perspective and enthusiasm to team in Leeds.

We also welcomed the arrival of a precious bundle of joy as our Studio Creative Designer Darren celebrated the birth of a beautiful baby girl.

As we look to new beginnings, we also bid farewell, albeit temporarily, to Milly as she embarks on a well-deserved maternity leave. We look forward to hearing the news of another new arrival shortly.

Not So Dry January

The team lived up to expectations on our Last Thursday Club outing, devouring delicious pizza at Rudy’s. It was certainly not a dry month for the team, with plenty of cocktails flowing, and not forgetting the indulgent finale – the affogato.
