PR Diary: July

The weather was hot, hot, hot in July and so were our to-do lists. Read on for a sneak peek into what we got up to whilst the rest of the UK was sunbathing…

More cheese Leeds?

We were back at White Rose this month to support the launch of Yorkshire’s first ever Gromit Unleashed trail, in which fans can enjoy a treasure trail of giant sculptures of both Gromit and Shaun the Sheep on display around the shopping centre.

The announcement of the trail and first anniversary of The Village – White Rose’s outdoor leisure space – was celebrated with a giant Wallace and Gromit-themed cheesecake, seen below with Leeds’ Children’s Mayor.

Umpf then promoted the opening of the trail with a series of quite literally cheesy desk drops around Leeds…

Gromit Unleashed  is at White Rose until 02 September 2018.

Cookin’ up a storm at Trinity Kitchen

Another changeover in Trinity Kitchen saw an array of new tasty food vendors enter the city ready to get the summer sizzling for Leeds shoppers – and what better way to spread the word than with a Supper Club event. We’d tell you that the new vendors went down a treat with bloggers and the media, but we will let a couple of posts speak for themselves…

Getting snappy with MindMate

Following on from our successful Football Manager campaign for MindMate, we created a follow-up Snapchat campaign.

The organisation’s young ambassadors became the stars of the initiative as we turned them into digital caricatures of themselves which became filters within the app.

Six ambassadors from MindMate feature in the campaign which is helping raise awareness of mental health and wellbeing in the city for young people.

The filters are being promoted at various events and locations in Leeds in the coming months including university open days, festivals, concerts and sporting events.

A Jurassic launch for Trinity

In case you missed it, a ROARsome T-Rex has arrived at Trinity Leeds!

The 18-metre long dinosaur is the UK’s largest animatronic T-Rex, and even roars and moves its arms, head and tail.

To tease its arrival in the city, we organised some ‘reverse graffiti’ dinosaur footprints to appear in city centre hotspots, and did a mini teaser video – check it out here:

We also held a press call to introduce Leeds’ biggest new resident to local media. You can see how the Dino was built in the making-of video we created here:

The new free attraction is at Trinity Leeds until September 2nd – make sure you snap a selfie with the prehistoric predator and share it on the Trinity Leeds Facebook page for the chance to win a gift card.

Nine the wiser

In July the marathon that is the CIPR PRide award shortlisting took place and we were thrilled to hear that we were shortlisted for no less than NINE campaign awards. Top work team!
